Please, guys, if you can help at all, it would be amazing. This is such a heatbreaking burden, especially so close on the heels of her losing her other brother. *hugs*

As a lot of you know, [livejournal.com profile] stir_of_echoes lost her brother Ian a couple of months ago, and as one of our own very near and dear friends, we tried our best to help out and she managed to lay him to a respectable and well deserved rest.

Last week she tragically lost her other brother, Taz, who died of a heart attack.

It's a huge blow so close to losing Ian, but it isn't just the heartbreak she's dealing with.

Financially this is a nightmare.

I know it's tight all around for everyone at the moment but she and her family would really appreciate not only your prayers and thoughts, but also, anything you may be able to help out with fiscally.

Her PayPal is jules_smith6@hotmail.co.uk

She's offering gif sets as compensation for your generosity, and I will throw my hat in the ring and say anyone who donates £10 and upwards can have any kind of digital art off me they like (within reason, I can't manip for love nor money).

As we also know Stir hates asking for help, but I thought I would put this out there. I know y'all are generous to a fault and won't for one minute begrudge my asking.

Thank you in advance!

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways to Give:

[livejournal.com profile] wldcatspstr_14 is fundraising to save her family home from foreclosure after her parents lost their jobs; she and her siblings can handle the regular mortgage payments but need help coming up with the lump sum of back money owed. You can read more and help out here.

[tumblr.com profile] sugar-and-bitter-blues linked to a fundraiser for Cassie, who is about to lose her home and will not be able to graduate college because of student loan issues (her co-signer wants her to attend conversion therapy before they will co-sign). You can read more and give at her gofund me here or her YouCaring here.

[tumblr.com profile] tangerine42 linked to a fundraiser for Ashley, Heather, and their baby daughter Frida of Frog Belly Farm, who just lost their home, farm, and livestock in a wildfire last week. They're raising funds to help find/build a new home and find work. You can read a news story about the fire here and give at their gofundme here.

[tumblr.com profile] jellyfishdirigible linked to a fundraiser for Ruadhan ([tumblr.com profile] ruadhan1334), whose disability payments have been temporarily but severely reduced. He needs help to meet his costs for HRT, bills, and food for himself and his cats. You can read more and give at his GoFundMe, support him at his Patreon or Bandcamp, or buy some awesome buttons and jewelry at his Etsy Shop.

Anon linked to a fundraiser for Tiaras N Teakettles, who recently lost her disability benefits without being told her case had been decided. She is running a patreon posting thrifty princess advice to help cover bills while she job hunts. You can check out the patreon here.

[tumblr.com profile] katsuko1978 and [tumblr.com profile] apollymi are raising $1000 to deal with unexpected car repairs and other expenses; you can read more and help out here.

[tumblr.com profile] rilee16 is still struggling to cover medical expenses after two head injuries last year, and hasn't been cleared to return to work, thus can't earn money to cover basic living costs, let alone the bills they've received, including a recent rent increase. They literally have no money left until their next worker's comp check comes, which means no gas money for their car, so they can't get anywhere to do odd jobs for bill money. You can read more and help out here.

[tumblr.com profile] dreamwaffles's job ended and she's trying to make ends meet until she can land another one. She has a donation page up here but is also selling beaded jewelery through Etsy; you can check out Saxifrage Designs and make a purchase here.

Holly was recently injured and needs surgery, but has to come up with $1800 before they will schedule her; she's in a lot of pain and will be until she can have her injury fixed. You can give via paypal at marajade@chattooine.com.

Help For Free:

[tumblr.com profile] howdoyoutmblr is a grad student in linguistic anthropology, researching the way people use language on specific social media platforms and how that relates to political/civic engagement. She has a survey up about the topic to gather more info; you can read more and reblog here, check out the faq here, and take the survey here.

[tumblr.com profile] jonaht's son is attending UNLV for Business Management and is doing a survey for a school assignment about Disney starting to use virtual reality. You can check out the survey and participate here.

Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, possibly the best thing on any social media platform ever, is in the running for the Shorty Awards and needs your vote! You can vote daily now through February 16th. Go here to vote; there's also a rebloggable tumblr post here. Do it for Sharky.

Buy Stuff, Help Out:

[personal profile] marginaliana linked to a t-shirt her wife designed in order to provide a little humor for internet introverts who also feel strongly about activism: The Introvert Resistance. Proceeds from purchases go to the ACLU!

[tumblr.com profile] magpiesmiscellany has several gorgeous "tree of life" necklaces up in her etsy shop, with proceeds going to the Sierra Club, ACLU, Lamba Legal, Planned Parenthood, and other charities. You can check out the necklaces and purchase them here!

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can post items for my attention at the Radio Free Monday submissions form. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). If you're new to fundraising, you may want to check out my guide to fundraising here.

Jules, [livejournal.com profile] stir_of_echoes, has asked if I could share her Paypal addy as well in case you'd like to give that way rather than go through Gofundme. I told her I'd be happy to so here it is:

jules_smith6@hotmail.co.uk

Plus, don't forget, the address for the Gofundme she's running to raise money for her brother's funeral is here:

https://www.gofundme.com/rc-help-put-him-to-rest

Also, Mandy, [livejournal.com profile] a_phoenixdragon, is still desperately fighting to keep her family from being evicted from their home in just a few short days. If you can help in any way, her PayPal address again is:

phoenixdragondreams@gmail.com

She's also still running her Gofundme campaign although it's morphed from a moving fund to a fund for trying our best to raise the $1700 they need to be able to keep their home. You can find it here:

https://www.gofundme.com/our-big-family-move

Please, give if you can, every little bit helps. But, most importantly, share this, and my previous posts about the help they both need, everywhere you can. Except for Jules, she has asked that we not share her need on either Facebook or Twitter. All the other fannish outlets are okay.

They are both such good people with such amazing hearts. I so hope that we can pull together as a community to help Jules give this final love and care to her brother. Plus, in addition to Mandy and her hubby, there are her two small sons counting on us tonight. How do you explain to little guys that the only home they've ever known is just gone?

Hey guys, this post is an attempt to help our friend, [livejournal.com profile] a_phoenixdragon, keep from losing their home. They've gotten their eviction notice, 1/26/17, which means she, her husband and their two little boys, will be homeless as of that date if we can't get emergency help for them. Locally we've been calling every church we can find that might be able to help plus, she's gotten in touch with their local social services agency. They might be able to help with $400 toward the $1700 they need but it wouldn't come until next month which would be way too late to help.

In Louisville, the church groups that can provide emergency rent help are divided by districts. The church ministry for their zip code, Ministries United of South Central Louisville, is unreachable by phone. We've both been calling them for several days to try and make an appointment for Mandy to talk to them and all we get is a busy signal. I even called a nearby church in case they might have another number we could try and was told that they are notorious for being impossible to reach by phone. I asked if she could just go there in person then to make an appointment and they said, no, the only way they will help you is if you call first.

So, basically, they've made it pretty much impossible to get any help from them. The lady I spoke with from the other church was really nice. She said they were really frustrated and had made several complaints about it in the past.

Right now Mandy is waiting to hear back from their rental office to see if they would be willing to at least take one half of their back rent with their doing their best to pay the remainder before the end of the month. We've also left a voice message at St. Rita's, a church that a volunteer at St. Vincent's said might be able to help.

We're pretty much at the end of any good options right now, that's why I'm making this post. If you could help at all, her paypal address is phoenixdragondreams@gmail.com. She's also got a GoFundme page set up at https://www.gofundme.com/our-big-family-move if you'd rather give through there.

If you wouldn't mind, please share this post. They are good, kind people that are just in an impossible, scary situation right now. An unexpected job loss, with a car repair on top, is what caused it. Mandy has been able to get another temp job but it won't be enough, in enough time, to help them. That's why I'm hoping that we can help.

I know you may have seen some of Mandy's posts about this but [livejournal.com profile] a_phoenixdragon's family situation gets more dire by the day. Last month Mandy lost her job because they had an unexpected car breakdown which caused her to miss work. Her hubby was working but his salary alone wasn't enough to cover their regular expenses on top of the car repairs. Mandy has been trying to find work but the holidays are a tough time to be unemployed.

Because of everything piling up they weren't able to pay their December rent and now this month's rent is due as well. They've just recently gotten their eviction notice from their apartment manager. In order to not lose their home they have to pay last month, this month and the 'cost' of court filings for the apartment complex. Their normal rent is $700.00 per month so, at best, they're looking at needing $1600.00.

We're going to be calling every organization, every church, that we can think of here in Louisville that might be able to help. I know that this is a bad time of year, a lot of them are already tapped out. But, I have to try. I can't just stand by and do nothing. What worries me the most is that they have two little guys and it looks more certain every day that they'll lose their home without some kind of miracle happening.

Mandy is a good, kind person who is doing her best to provide for her family. Thankfully, she's even got the prospect of a new job. One of the temp agency's she's registered with has called about a position that would start this Sunday. But, even if she's lucky enough to get it, any pay she earns wouldn't be soon enough to help them keep their home.

She shouldn't be facing something like this alone. Please, please, if anyone would like to help, even if it's just a couple of dollars, her PayPal address is phoenixdragondreams@gmail.com.

Most importantly, if you wouldn't mind, help me pass the word about this along. I give blanket permission for you to share this post wherever you can. The more people that see it, the better chance we have at getting her some help. I don't want them to end up homeless with two little boys depending on them.

*hugs you all tightly*

Hello, lovies.

This year has been a crapfest for us all. I extend love and sympathy to everyone. I really mean it. If I could give each of you a hug, I would, right now. Consider yourself hugged! ♥️

I am disabled, and live on a ridiculously microscopic fixed income. I am clever, thrifty and patient; life isn't easy I but survive, and in some moments, I thrive.

That said, holidays are difficult. I do not have a family to provide for, but I do not have one to care for me, either. I will spend the holiday with a friend, thankfully.

I've been a good girl. 👼 I would like to make some wishes!

1) Clothing! Getting good clothing in my area is a challenge; there is huge price and style gap between cheap, ratchet/trashy crap and upscale designer. Many, many shops do not carry plus anymore, or very, very little. :-(
=  Second-hand is fine if the garment(s) are clean, stain-free and in good repair.
= Tunic-length tops, long or short-sleeve, in cotton or high-percentage blends. I am US size 22 on top. Often an XXL will fit; usually a Old Navy size XXXL will fit me, if the neck isn't too low (they go deeeep O.O). Favorite colors to wear: brown, plum, forest green, dark teal, gray, muted, dark/medium blues. woven, loose-fit knits, even short dresses (think babydolls) - I layer them in the cold!
= Leggings/jeggings in same size/colors, 22W or 3XL. I know sizes from Asia are weird and tiny. I usually go with the largest waist size. Any matching solid color, and I always need black. I layer them in winter, and can even use them as PJs. Nylon and cotton are better than poly.; not the fleece or shiny kind; flull-length, not capri, so they reach the tops of my winter boots!

2) A teapot, simple like a Brown Betty, but any solid color is fine.

3) An electric kettle would be lovely, since my landlord is going to fix my stove between next week and never.

4) A decent new bra! I am a 44D (not 42, not DD!), without underwires or thick straps, as both cause me pain. Not a sport or leisure style, just a classic brassiere. Any color. OOh la la!

5) I need wool socks, socks with a high wool content. I wear a standard size; I have wide, size 8 (US) feet. I am diabetic, and must care for my feet. Wool seems to do the best job for me, keeping my feet dry and warm/cool all year round.

6) I love knitting tools. Wood/bamboo works best for my spazzy hands. I desire stitch markers (the ones that look like teeny-tiny diaper pins are great!), DPNs of any size or length, and the traffic-cone stoppers you put at the end needles (rubber or silicone). At this time I (gasp) do not need yarn! :-D Second-hand is fine, BTW!

7) I desperately need my hair cut. Like, at least a foot of it, OFF. I live in NYC, and haircuts here can be upwards of $100! So I keep growing my hair, and it is horribly damaged. :-( Not sure how to fulfill this one, but it is what I want/need)

8) Wish Listing: http://amzn.to/2gINczp

9) Amazon gift cards are always welcome, as they carry pretty much everything one could need.

10) Do something for yourself, your family, your country, the world.
These are just ideas:
Sign a petition, smile at a stranger, forgive a wrong, call someone you haven't in forever. Carry a reusable shopping bag, and use it. Buy a coffee or bottle or water for a homeless person. Smoke once less a day. Donate to food pantries, include toilet paper. Donate new socks and underwear to shelters, hospitals, nursing homes. Drink some water. Send an email to your elected representative about issues that move you. Read to a child. Walk a shelter dog. Take time for a relaxing bath. Smile at babies on the bus and train. Say 'thank you" and mean it. Cough and sneeze into your hankie or elbow. Drink some water. Watch TV with your kids and giggle. Get a flu shot (the flu really hurts!). Feed the birds sunflower seeds. Share your umbrella. Think of new ways to make life better.
I do these things. I do all I can. This, to me, is what living is. 🌷
If you think these things don't matter, imagine yourself on the receiving end!
YOUR SMALL ACTIONS MATTER A LOT.

♥️Thank you!♥️

Late last night I posted some small gifts for everyone. Just in case you missed it, you can find them here:

http://digitalwave.livejournal.com/709144.html

Because of being sick I'm even later than usual posting my list. Like I've said before, seeing the comm active, and seeing people's wishes granted, is such a huge present for me. I made the comm for you guys, to be a help, to maybe spread some joy. It always makes me so happy to see everyone using it.

No matter how hard things get I know I'm blessed. Both by the love of my family and by the amazing friendship and support I get from all of you. I really do love you guys. You keep me sane in my insane world, remind me that I'm never alone, no matter what. I can never, ever thank you guys enough for that. I'll sure keep trying, though. Thanks, for always being here to listen, for offering me your help and hearts. It means more to me than I could ever say and I never, ever, take it for granted.

My 2016 Wish List

With being sick, and all it's accompanying expenses, we're pretty broke this holiday season. That means I'm trying to be creative for things to share with you as presents.

I've got some things that could be yours for just the cost of postage. One gift each for the Graze boxes, the Fitbit Charge is donated by Lee as a thank you for all the help you've given us over the years. The D-Link Wireless bridge is one that we don't need any more but it works great and could be useful for one of you guys:

Free to a new home goodies: )

Also, listed here you'll find a few of some of my favorite music artists. Please, share these wonderful songs. These albums, and anything in the Holiday Music folder, are yours to enjoy. Hope that you guys like them as much as I do.

Shareable albums: )

*hugs you all hard*
